THE ACTIVE PLAYER NETWORK TEAM
While the Active Player Network is truly a community of active players all around the globe, here's the team behind the content.

How I Play: Whether performing musical theater, wielding a sword as a member of Robin Hood’s Merry Band at the NY Renaissance Faire, or sitting down with my friends to play D&D once a week, I’ve been role playing my entire life. I’m 100% a self-proclaimed RPG Queen, but overall I’m drawn to any interactive game that sets my imagination aflame with beautiful art and the promise of an adventure to fantastical realms. Outside of these mystic pursuits, I can be found enjoying deck builders, conquering escape rooms with my friends, and painting miniatures.
Real Life Alignment/Race/Class: Chaotic Good Half Elf Bard
If I Could Live in a Fictional Universe, it would be: Star Wars - Old Republic Era.
Location: Ithaca, NY
How I Play: I play for the experience. Win or lose, if I’m playing with the right friends, I’ll have a great time regardless of what’s on the table.
Personal Quote: “Yes, I KNOW that guacamole is extra!”
I Cherish My Collection Of: Tears of my haters.
Location: Atlanta, GA
How I Play: I love any form of playing that makes my brain tingle, whether it’s figuring out how an angle could be played in a board game, learning to play a new song on guitar, or how you could use a setup in Jiu-Jitsu. I love writing, playing guitar, video games, board games—pretty much anything that lets my mind feel like it’s in a sandbox and can do what it wants. I love horror movies and fiction, as well as games that use their theme well; The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31 is one of my current favorite board games.
My Super Power: Able to synthesize Vitamin D faster than non-gingers.
If I Could Live in a Fictional Universe, it would be: Montana. Sounds beautiful, if only it were real…
Location: Hogwarts, Slytherin House
How I Play: Fantasy and Sci-Fi are my preferred genre to escape into when I’ve got free time. To discover new worlds and explore the strange and beautiful, from fighting against the Elder Gods to getting that legendary sword. If there is a rich story, characters with depth, or even an expansive universe to become immersed in where I can leave my daily worries behinds captures my attention and imagination.
My Secret Talent: I am a llama whisperer, having owned and trained llamas in a past life.
I have a cherished collection of: Super deformed Shin-Godzilla figures.
Location: Providence, RI
How I Play: I spend most nights pretending to know what I’m doing in the kitchen; I only started cooking a couple of years ago, so am having a blast teaching myself. I’m also an avid sports fan, love tailgating, and take great pride in introducing my non-gamer pals to tabletop! I particularly love games that have beautiful art and well-thought out components, and enjoy high levels of player-interaction and tension. I will almost never say no to trying a new party or dexterity game, and am louder at the game table than any other time in my life... except maybe at a soccer matches.
My Patronus: Probably one of those really aggressive seagulls you spot eating french fries out of a dumpster.
My Super Power: Still waiting for it to develop… really hoping it’ll be the ability to absorb rulebooks via temporal osmosis.
Location: Greater Seattle Area
How I Play: When I was a kid, I said I would always buy toys and play games while the adults said I would grow out of it. Fortunately, the rest of the world grew into it! Playing video games and board games, nerding out about comic book movies, and collecting toys are ways I think you can have fun at any age. Fortunately, a lot of people out there agree with me now!
My Secret Talent: When I play a game and I am in a dungeon maze that I want to explore before leaving, I somehow wind up going down the exact right path to the exit.
Mantra: Do what makes you happy as long as it doesn’t make other people unhappy.
Location: Phoenix, AZ
How I Play: Play means interactive to me. That includes real life escape rooms or tabletop ones, video games, posable action figures, or board games with a lot of moving parts. If it’s static, passive, or has a lot of down time, that’s not for me.
Pets: I have a dog named Watson, a cat named Squee, and a beta fish named Wasabi. I also have a son named Oliver who is only 7 months old, so he’s basically a pet for a little while longer.
If I could live in a fictional universe, it would be: Definitely Star Trek, when Next Generation takes place. The holodeck alone would be worth living there (even if it malfunctions every year or so) but the idea of a hopeful future for mankind compared to a corporate run, dystopian cyberpunk future is my dream.
Location: Boise, ID
How I Play: A very non-competitive person in real-life, but I thrive on competition in games. Be it TCGs, miniature games, or board games on all ends of the complexity spectrum: whatever the medium, I love getting together with a like-minded group and duking it out to see how far my game can take me. A good FLGS with good people and good competition is my safe place. Outside gaming I get my play time in through music (listening, playing), the occasional hike/bike/swim, movies, or consuming copious amounts of TV shows.
My Lucky Numbers: 4 8 15 16 23 42
My Secret Talent: Interrupting conference calls with acoustic guitar riffing.

Seriously, what’s with the pineapple?: “The pineapple is recognized as a traditional expression of “welcome” throughout the South and in areas along the Eastern Seaboard. Appearing on all sorts of décor – from door knockers to quilts – the fruit symbolizes those intangible assets we appreciate in a home: warmth, welcome, friendship and hospitality.”
